“Suicide is another thing that’s so frowned upon in this society, but honestly, life isn’t for everybody. It really isn’t. It’s sad when kids kill themselves ’cause they didn’t really give it a chance, but life is like a movie: if you’ve sat through more than half of it and it sucked every second so far, it probably isn’t gonna get great right at the very end for you and make it all worthwhile. No one should blame you for walking out early.”

they used to say I was a cautious man
it’s been weeks since I looked both ways or gave a damn
I spill words from my glass
like nobody else can understand
the songs that I play aloud
and all the thoughts that race through my head
I only write true stories
but they’re all about fictional events
that I make up when alone
and I’m fighting with my eyes to go to bed
so I sing louder than anyone in a crowded room
while I sneak glances at girls that are in my view
sluts wanting to fuck the next poet they meet
but I won’t give them a mentionable opportunity
Oh, look at the mess I’ve made
won’t you look at the mess I’ve made?
I break my neck for better words
as I fuck up everything I have going for me
I snap back into place
changing my dreams into my reality
lips locked and legs tight
no, you’re not impressing me at all
if you’re clothed on my bed
well then there is something terribly wrong
so I sing louder than anyone in a crowded room
while I sneak glances at girls that are in my view
sluts wanting to fuck the next poet they meet
but I won’t give them a mentionable opportunity
Oh, look at the mess I’ve made
won’t you look at the mess I’ve made?
do you really think I should be surprised?
you’re actions are louder than words
and I’m publishing your literature
here’s a drunken phone call to get you by
but after all is said and done
you were just one night of fun
it was all a waste
from the way you taste
to the speeches you’ve made
it’s all the same
you never change
(you never change)
so I sing louder than anyone in a crowded room
while I sneak glances at girls that are in my view
sluts wanting to fuck the next poet they meet
but I won’t give them a mentionable opportunity
Oh, look at the mess I’ve made
won’t you look at the mess,
the mess that I’ve made
Oh, look at the mess I’ve made
won’t you look at the mess
the mess that I’ve made
Oh, look at the mess I’ve made
won’t you look at the mess,
the mess that I’ve made
Oh, look at the mess I’ve made
won’t you look at the mess
the mess that I’ve made
do you really think I should be surprised?
I went and saw Valencia tonight. Amazing band live and on the album. I love Shane’s voice so much and that guy has been through a lot. I also love the theme of their new album, We All Need A Reason To Believe, which came out last week. The theme is going through a really hard time and just trying to be as positive as possible to see your way through it. It’s the perfect album for me right now. The song below is the first track on the album and it’s titled “Better Be Prepared”. I love it so much and I felt the need to post the lyrics.
I’m making my way
Through cities and towns
Just trying to lose myself in skylines and forget
That I lost my mind when I couldn’t hold her
And now that I feel all the weight on my shoulders
I fall
So here’s a couple words for you
To let you know what I’ve been through
I’ve got this off-track set mind where everything is fine
If I know I’ve got a ticket to the other side
And I’ll breathe you in tonight
I’ll find my own way home
You know I’ll be fine
You’ve got me walking through the back door, back door
Hoping that I’ll find you sitting there
You know that I will find you somehow
And I better be well prepared
To change the way that I believe
This story’s old but not complete
I need that off-track set mind where everything is fine
If I’m ever gonna meet you on the other side
And I’ll breathe you in tonight
I’ll find my own way home
You know I’ll be fine
You’ve got me walking through the back door, back door
Hoping that I’ll find you sitting there
You know that I will find you somehow
And I better be well prepared
To walk through the back door, back door
With my head in my hands
‘Cause I can find you somehow
I better be well prepared
I’m gonna be prepared
I need to get out of the city lights
And make my way to the country side
I’ll drive down the road
The roads we both know
Will lead me to the place I miss the most
I’ll get to your house
I’ll burst through the door
I’ll climb up the stairs
You know I’m scared that I have changed
You’ve got me walking through the back door, back door
Hoping that I’ll find you sitting there
You know that I will find you somehow
And I better be well prepared
To walk through the back door, back door
With my head in my hands
‘Cause I can find you somehow
I better be well prepared
I’m gonna be prepared
Well I think that’s all I have to say tonight. I’ll update more tomorrow. Have a goodnight.
